Steel Joists

Joists are custom-built structural elements used to support the floors and roof of a building. Using a steel joist and steel deck system for floor and roof construction has proven to be an effective solution resulting in substantial savings.

Over the years, we have established strict quality standards. All our welders, inspectors, and quality assurance technicians are certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) in Canada and by the American Welding Society in the United States.

Canam is a fully accredited member of the Steel Joist Institute and can provide the full range of SJI products including:

1. K-series joists
2. KCS-series joists
3. LH-series joists
4. DLH-series joists
5. Joist Girders

Canam can design and manufacture steel trusses for a wide variety of special needs beyond the scope and range of the Steel Joist Institute Specifications. See the diagrams to the right for non-standard and special shapes that are available.

Canam can also provide joists or girders at depths or spans outside of the SJI Load Tables.

Canam uses state-of-the-art software for the design of our products, and can accommodate many special design requirements including:-
